4 min read
Father, remember how Nebuchadnezzar respected you after he saw an angel walking Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the fire. When he thought he was over and done with them, he realized he was powerless.

Enemies don’t have to be friends again. It all depends on the gravity of what caused the hostility. We only want to make sure that, whether they become our friends later or not, they don’t disorient our well-being. For this reason, I’d like to unleash a helpful prayer for the enemy.

Before then, we need to remember we are Christians, and we ought to pray like God’s people.

If there is anyone we need to pray for every day, it’s our enemies. But when we think about the enemy, we usually have feelings of resentment.

What if we realized that controlling our anger would save us so much agony? I bet we would pray for our enemies more than we pray for ourselves!

Before we get to the ideal prayer for the enemy, we need to ask ourselves, “Who are our enemies?” Once we have the answer, it will be much easier to comprehend the secret behind our prayer for the enemy.

We also need to evaluate ourselves to find out if we could be enemies to other people! This is because everything about our lives begins with us. I’d advise that if the pain is unbearable, we need to pray in this manner repeatedly. We can then evaluate ourselves to see if the weight of the hurtful feelings is getting lighter. With commitment, we’ll surely have a testimony.

Praying for enemies has always been a challenge. We’re going to find relief once we accustom ourselves to this prayer for the enemy. Following that, we can easily say our prayer for the enemy without a heavy heart.

A Workable Prayer for the Enemy

Almighty and Ever Living God, I'm a sinner not worthy before you. I stand accused like the prodigal son for the numerous times I keep making mistakes. Please forgive me for the sins I know and those I do not know.

I’ve learned that during my interactions with people, I’m likely to feel offended. Please fill me with the grace to forgive immediately. Help me understand that I also make mistakes and others would feel aggrieved too. Father, remind me that my thoughts could also be out of a misunderstood statement. Teach me to coexist in my family, workplace, and neighborhood.

Heavenly Master, today I ask you to use me to change my notorious enemies. The ones who deliberately find joy in making my life difficult. I may not know them, but Father you know all of them and what they do.

Prove to them beyond reasonable doubt that you are the All-Powerful God. Father, remember how Nebuchadnezzar respected you after he saw an angel walking Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the fire. When he thought he was over and done with them, he realized he was powerless.

My dear Lord, I’m sending you to the enemy’s camp. Please scatter all their evil plans against me and my family. May they consistently fail in their quest to disorient my life. Make them give up on the devil and come back to you. Send your angels to arrest all the evil spirits that make them behave weirdly, throw them into the bottomless pit, and lock them there.

Father, my enemies are your children. You keep crying out that your children are perishing for lack of knowledge. May all my enemies get to know and understand you. Save them from the snares of the evil one. Cleanse them with your precious Blood, which makes us new every day.

I trust and believe their salvation will bring joy to me and my family as they will no longer be malicious to us.

Holy God, You told us to ask and you shall give us. Father, shine your light upon my enemies and put a smile on my face.

I ask you all these, in the mighty name of our savior Jesus Christ, AMEN.

Why We Pray for the Good of Our Enemies

For practical tips on how to deal with enemies, we can check out this article. It has lots of Bible verses that build our confidence. We learn to behave like the firstborn in a family. I mean that person the rest of the kids look up to.

The wisdom we get when we say a prayer for the enemy.
How we blossom when we pray for people who hurt us.

Our lives get more complicated when we do not pray for our enemies. Praying for their demise does more harm than good to us and our adversaries. It denies us our Christian being. It’s as if they attack us, and we retaliate.

If we’re interested in restoring what we’ve lost, then we need to wish well for everyone.

Let us be careful to know who becomes a friend after enmity. In some cases, it is worth opening our arms to receive our enemies (now friends) with jubilation. Other instances require that we keep a distance (removing the eye that will make us sin).

Every written prayer is a guideline, and the one prescribed here is not an exception. We have newbies in church and around us who would like to know how to handle situations. Sharing this prayer for the enemy will do good for someone who has been wondering how to fight the enemy spiritually. Your comments would add value to this post.
